Q Source

The debated, hypothetical source document containing a collection of sayings from Christ. Q is thought by many scholars to be a common source for the Gospels. The existence of Q forms the hypothetical proposition to solve the “synoptic problem,” answering the questions brought about because of the agreement of Matthew and Luke against Mark.
